During our 16 Days of Activism campaign in December (16 Days, 16 Towns, 4 Susters), we travelled around impoverished towns in the Western Cape and met with the communities there, to uncover the challenges they are facing.
Here at Susters4Life we are heading into the new year with our hands full – and our hearts even fuller! One of our many exciting projects for January 2019 was the start of training with the well-known sewing machine company Elna.
In December we travelled to 16 towns around the Western Cape, speaking to local communities as part of our campaign for 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.
At this time of year, as the festive season approaches, our thoughts turn to those who are less fortunate than ourselves, who may not have the money to celebrate Christmas and enjoy the December holidays.
After getting to know the women we work with in South Africa’s impoverished communities, we discovered that many of them aren’t able to drive, and don’t have their learner’s or driver’s licenses.
The Susters4Life team got some exciting news this month. Our co-founder Reneé Thompson has been selected for a place in Apolitical Academy’s Public Service Fellowship in Southern Africa.
