At Susters4Life, we have always made it our mission to support the most vulnerable people in the Western Cape\u2019s poor rural communities. Right now, as South Africans stay in their homes to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, getting help and provisions to impoverished communities is exceptionally important. While the national lockdown is an inconvenience for some of us, it is a matter of life and death for others. Many people in underprivileged South African communities have lost their source of income due to the lockdown period, and many more are living with compromised immune systems, making them especially vulnerable to infection if they leave their homes. In order to bring some relief to them in a safe and responsible way, Susters4Life aims to put together the following supplies:<\/p>

  • Food parcels<\/li>
  • Hygiene products<\/li>
  • Masks<\/li><\/ul>

    We would like to appeal to our compassionate supporters for donations, which will go towards communities in the Western Cape.<\/p>

    Susters4Life will continue to provide trauma counselling services throughout the lockdown period. We also aim to join the fight against the spread of COVID-19 by making masks for the people in our community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    We already have the mask pattern, 10 sewing machines and a group of women based in Worcester who are ready to start producing the masks. We will start work as soon as we can access a shop to buy the supplies we need.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    We have appealed to Dr Zweli Mkhize, The Department of Trade and Industry South Africa, and our President Cyril Ramaphosa, to consider opening fabric shops under the same provisions as other retailers. If you know of a fabric provider who could assist us, please get in touch with us, and help to keep your fellow South Africans safe and healthy!<\/p>
